How to Replace an audi Key replacement cost G28 Engine Speed Sensor

Charles the Humble Technician teaches you how to replace the G28 Engine Speed Sensor. This sensor is located at the top of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear. It sends a signal to the ECU via a grey wire (T55/49) and then to the tachometer located in the instrument cluster.

The grey wire is located on the edge of transmission, above the flywheel ring. The sensor transmits a signal via the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU utilizes this information to regulate the amount of fuel and boost. It also sends an indicator Audi a1 key replacement (http://Zaday-vopros.ru) to the G5 Tachometer in instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to link with the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu needs to be aware of when the crankshaft has reached TDC, and where the camshaft lies so that it can activate the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails the ECU will show a P00160 code which means the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft are out of sync and possibly indicating chain stretch or a jumped link on the upper timing chain. However the code will not appear on its own, without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

It's a bit tricky to test as there are several pins on the connector and each one has different functions. The most effective method to test it is by measuring the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. If the sensor is functional, it should read around 1000 ohms. If you're having issues with this part, check for signs of coolant or oil in the connector bay.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, while accelerating from the highway paytoll at a high speed I noticed a massive decrease in power. It was like the engine was running out of gas. Or my injectors weren't firing. In the morning, i removed the spark plugs, three were soaked with gazoline and the 4th one was dry. I put tissue over each injector hole and when I start the engine without sparks, the 3 with gazoline jump right out. The 4th one remains shut. I checked the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55, 30/55 and 48/55. I got 0ohm. I'm assuming that the issue is somewhere else.

I also tried to reset PID without success. The car will start when the G28 is disconnected, but it works fine when the G28 plugged in. However the intermittent misfire issue still occurs at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62), even when it is unplugged, shows an ice temperature of -49c. Also i noticed that the gauge for oil pressure in the cockpit is showing 2 bar while the actual pressure is 0.0 when I crank up the engine.

I'm not sure what to do, but i feel i have pretty much eliminated everything else. I'm afraid i may have missed something. Please let me know If you have any suggestions! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 can be activated by a signal sent by the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter functions similarly to the G4 sender and both work on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. It is easy to find an extra in a wrecking shop or parts store. It is easy to test them: simply put your DMM into resistance mode and test the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump at the connector's end facing upwards). They should be infinite ohms.

4. ECU

The ECU in our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY ADU) engines needs to be aware of the speed and position of the crankshaft in order to make a decision about timing of fuel injectors, etc. In order to do this it utilizes a Crank Position Sensor (G4) and an Engine Speed Sensor (G28). If either of these go bad you will get codes on the diagnostic scanner which could cause engine shut down.

A failing G28 sensor can cause an inaccurate gearbox speed counter or a gearbox that shifts faster than normal, and/or a misfire while in gear. If you have any of these issues it is likely your sensor is deteriorating and should be replaced. The good thing is that they are very affordable and readily available particularly if you're looking at a Bosch sensor, which is what ours are. You can also choose the GM version of this unit is also a great option.

5. Tachometer

A damaged engine sensor could cause a number of problems in your car. It is a crucial part of the Audi A1 keys's transmission because it communicates to the ECU about how fast or slow the vehicle's crankshaft is spinning. This sensor could cause the transmission to malfunction and other components in the car to be affected.

The G5 engine speed sensor is located at the edge of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear. It sends a signal directly to the ECU at pin T55/49 through a grey wire. The ECU then processes the signal to control fuel, timig, and boost, and also sends it on to the G5 tachometer inside the instrument cluster. You can check the sensor for failure by examining the continuity between it and the tachometer, between ECU pin T55/49 and the instrument cluster connection via pin T6a/1 (trace [79trace [79]) and between pin T6a/1 and the instrument cluster pin T26a/12. You should observe approximately 1000 ohms resistance between those two pins. This is a common feature across the audi q3 key 80-100-200-RS2 series, starting from the 1985 MC all the way up to the 1997 UrS An and 1995 RS2 DU So, you may find good ones in wrecking yards.holding-car-keys-woman-in-formal-clothes-is-indoo-2021-12-27-15-52-03-utc-min-scaled.jpg
